Nancy -- "you've come a lo long way baby"! Terrific; a great memory for you. A good friend of mine, JImmy Archer, was the manager of the Central Park horse stables (actually located on the West side of Manhattan). He also had a good acting career. His brother, Joey Archer, a great boxer (actually defeated Sugar Ray Robinson) and Jimmy, were regulars in one of my restaurants -- terrific, tough, real New York Irish characters -- "those were the days." MORE PHOTOS LIKE THIS PLEASE. bILL

You are such a great fan, Bill and always make my day. Thanks for this cheer. The purchaser was Haskel Wexler. His wife was a member of our eight artists in The Workhouse and we even had a write up (with photos) in the New York Times. What a life I've had!

Many thanks, Stefano for this feature in 10 Plus. This photograph was part of my art exhibit in California (many years ago) and my beautiful pony with cart found a buyer. Actually it was purchased by a very famous cinematographer ...a delight for me at the time.

When I looked at this beautiful horse, I just remembered the poem, "Whose woods these are I think I know......." I think in my school days, I imagined a scene like this, when I first read it. Love this photograph.

I had just purchased a new camera and this was my first roll of film. It is my best...I think. My personal favorite. Thanks, Uma for this lovely comment.

F/L 1073 doesn't seem so very far away - sheesh! The pony is a beauty and so is the picture:>)

I have this print framed and in our living room. Cats and horses....in that order. I have such a soft heart for them.

I love the nostalgic, historical feeling and the keen interest in the horse's expression. Outstanding and captivating work! fav

Such a sweet horse, obviously put to work in central park....pulling a big cart. We did seem to connect....just the two of us...for this portrait!

Love this image so much...it definitely has the feel of film! Love your story and jealous of your darkroom!! This is a really wonderful portrait of a beautiful horse!!...fav/v6

My darkroom was our bathroom which I sealed with tin foil. I did have some amazing equipment and it was more than fun. I felt like Ansel Adams and indeed I had some shots of sand dunes which I took in b&w in Utah at Knabe. The dunes were actually pink....which I should have filmed in color. I'll put that shot up soon......!

Wow that's a walk back into history!! Fabulous F/V

I am a student of my past. That's what happens when you get to be old. It is really nice to be able to show some of my earlier art and photography. No one seems to mind. This photograph was very important to me. I had such empathy for this lovely pony and her attachment to her cart.

This really pulls at the heart strings. Makes you wonder whatever happened to this beautiful creature. Lovely image and comp. I can understand why it would sell. FV

Yes, imagine this beautiful white pony pulling this big cart. Oh, well. That was 1973. Notice that she was looking right at me while I took the photo!!
