Description
A mountain sheered of its trees and foliage, dynamited to uncover its coal seams, now looms over the terraces of mining activity below. Already 500 mountains have been "topped" in a destructive process known as mountain top removal. My native state of West Virginia is one of the most hard "hit" states.

This one hits home. My home state of West Virginia has just been ruined by a type of coal mining which essentially blows up the mountains...ruining all of the lovely streams, poisoning the water, the air....the people. I've done quite a few pieces on the subject of coal.

Nancy,I was so curious about what you said about painting with a credit card! I do not know if this is one of those pictures, but it is certainly a very unusually lovely effect. Hot,lonely, barren and very beautiful at the same time.v/f

Jane, this is one of my credit card pieces! I took a series of mixed media classes and learned about many techniques and materials which I had never tried before. Acrylic Glazing Liquid (Satin) allows more fluid application and this is a favorite of mine. There are lots of "craft" art books filled with new ideas...and well, they are very fun to use.
