Description
Several years ago we visited family in Lisbon, Portugal and then in a two car caravan we explored the southern beach towns, the legendary Algarve, a coastal destination for tourists and sight seers. And we spent Christmas there. How very fun. This is a memory of that wonderful trip.

Thanks so very much, Jim for this feature in WHAT Interrobang 1. This was one of my favorite paintings for the fall. I'm so pleased to have a new showcase for it.

It's not every day I create art which resonates in some deeper portions of my memory. This one seems to be a depiction of a family trip in 2008 to coastal Portugal. It began as just an abstract painting and then suddenly it evolved into a seaside village which I recognized. Very exciting for me and I'm so pleased and grateful for this feature. Thanks, Yolanda!!
Dorothy Pugh
Lovely mixture of lines and masses, capturing the essence of this scene! l/f
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Many thanks, Dorothy. I have lots of photos from this trip and I'm going to attempt a few more of these memory cartoons. It's better when it's spontaneous...and this is planned. We'll see.....

Love your representation of this iconic site, LF I knew it the moment I saw it without reading the description. What a unique place to spend Christmas!
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
We stayed inland at an inn with cottages which was especially serving a Christmas feast for all of the guests. We joined the party. I have pictures of the whole family (babies too) with paper hats! So happy you recognized the locale!!!

Thanks so very much, John for choosing The Algarve for a feature in Images That Excite You. I'm so pleased. This drawing just came from my hand and then my eye questioned where it could be...And then I recognized the abstraction of my trip to Portugal, the quaintness, the structures even of some buildings. Such is art. So mysterious and wonderful.
