Many thanks Lenore for featuring this painting in Old Masters - Painters and Traditional Arts. It's one of my largest and it was a nice surprise for me since I'm usually working small. So happy to see it in your gallery!

Wow, Nancy, this is incredible.. and I can feel the rush of people, the cacophony of noise from the street and the musicians on the corner. It's so wonderful and exciting! :-) Maggie

What a lovely comment, Maggie. I have such a fun time with these layered line paintings....I'm not really sure what to call them....but the finale for this one was the layer of gold. I loved your nice description!

I'm so happy you enjoy this energized line painting! It's done in layers, and different days between. And several different cameras before I got the shot I wanted.

About Nancy Kane Chapman

Nancy Kane Chapman

I began my love for art by watching my mother paint in oils and pastels. I must have caught the bug because I have enjoyed fifty years of drawing, painting and photography, urged on and instructed by professors, a botanist, a master of Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, water colorists and lately, mixed media devotees. After a course in cubism in 1973 I began to explore pen and ink geometric art. Each stroke was unplanned but exact, the designs becoming more elaborate and more fun to execute. First circles, then onward to straight lines, then organic and architectural constructions. Thirty years later I still dance out on the white space of a simple sheet of paper to weave new drawings.
