Description
I understand Monet's passion for these wonderful water flowers. For one idea about them, they are
never the same. Sunlight on water, reflections of the sky and clouds, clear or murky water, colors rich or
diluted, pale or bold. Shapes...soft circles, sharp spiking blossoms...a flower within a flower at the center...in another color. My research reveals that water lilies were imported to Egypt over 3000 years ago, enjoyed in the royal gardens there and slowly spreading along the Mediterranean coast. They were in my home town and as a child I sat in someone's garden often just one block from my house. I loved them always!
