Artist's Description
I love to paint water with acrylics and the side of a credit card. It's a longer surface than a palette knife and it's great for scraping and redistributing the paint. This is one of several other water landscapes I've created using this method.
About Nancy Kane Chapman
I began my love for art by watching my mother paint in oils and pastels. I must have caught the bug because I have enjoyed fifty years of drawing, painting and photography, urged on and instructed by professors, a botanist, a master of Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, water colorists and lately, mixed media devotees. After a course in cubism in 1973 I began to explore pen and ink geometric art. Each stroke was unplanned but exact, the designs becoming more elaborate and more fun to execute. Zsanan Studio
PS Now I am going to fiddle around with some old credit cards (((*:*))
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
You'll love the results... I usually add some mediums to keep the acrylics from drying too quickly...but then when semi-wet, you can use scraping and lifting. Have fun!
Zsanan Studio

Many thanks, Zsanan. I taught myself this method and only much later realized that Gerhard Richter's giant squeegee delivered something similar.

It takes some practice and I do lots of them at the same time and press lightly or with firm scrapes....very wet and finally as it dries. Very fun!!

Fantastic water abstract, Nancy....I can feel the rush, the froth and foam! . . . .vf
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Water is great to do with the side of a credit card....picking up the acrylic and moving it quickly about. Pressing down makes a different stroke etc...it's a little like finger painting.
