I really loved doing portraits. They were my mother's specialty and there were two
which she did of our father, one in oil, another pastel which hung in our home.

My mother painted portraits....in oil. I didn't get that far....yet. Only pencil and a few watercolors. Thanks for your nice comment.

Your portraits are amazing! Compelling, so much life and expression! A treasure Nancy! Fl
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
I had two portrait teachers. One of them used to set up lights on the models so that we could see structures in the faces. Very wise and caring instruction.

Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
The portraits I did (so few when I look back now) were such a joy for me. My mother did so many and I watched her paint them as a child. I hope to do some in oil or acrylic and your outstanding portraits are so inspirational to me!

Oh, this is so lovely Nancy...I can sense such relaxed nature of this person..so comfortable in her own skin...beautifully done! f/v
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
This is such a wonderful comment, Jolanta. There is a moment in art where a spirit seems to enter the paper or the canvas. I had a feeling about this particular drawing that some spark had emerged.
