Red Rock

Red Rock

Medium
Mixed Media - Acrylic, Mixed Media, Creased Paper
Description
I love applying acrylic to textured slick paper...paper which has creases...which become sculptural elements in the painting. I discovered this wrinkle effect with paper sculptures, moved on to snowy mountain brush paintings, and now I've arrived at creased red rock mountains. I know these indents are not geologically sound, but they fascinate me...they make the surface appear hard.

Love these paintings and I agree that the texture of the paper is an important part of the painting.

So nice to have this comment. I don't know if there are other artists creasing paper...but I started with tiny paper sculptures and went from there. Love your work, Sharon!

Thanks, Hiorko. I love blurring the line between painting and sculpture....using paper as my sculptural material! Even small creases interest me!
