Artist's Description
Sometimes an artist's work becomes internalized and finds its way into paintings which immediately seem to be influenced by the master works once enjoyed. This Turner like painting is one of those memories!
About Nancy Kane Chapman
I began my love for art by watching my mother paint in oils and pastels. I must have caught the bug because I have enjoyed fifty years of drawing, painting and photography, urged on and instructed by professors, a botanist, a master of Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, water colorists and lately, mixed media devotees. After a course in cubism in 1973 I began to explore pen and ink geometric art. Each stroke was unplanned but exact, the designs becoming more elaborate and more fun to execute. First circles, then onward to straight lines, then organic and architectural constructions. Thirty years later I still dance out on the white space of a simple sheet of paper to weave new drawings. Nancy --Turner, yes -- but als a bit of Sistine Chapel here-- terrific. l/f
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
I'll take Turner but have to say I don't see the Sistine.. I've been there and stared up and looked closely in photos when it was cleaned ....it was dirty when I viewed it. Thanks for your good comment though.

Nancy, I'm so pleased you came to visit me as it reminded me to check out something you have done and I always find a wonderful surprise. This abstract is so beautiful and truly works as an homage to Turner, his colors and the power of the sea. I think he was very avant-garde for his time period and he would love to see how he has influenced your work. Just fabulous! You are so versatile; I love your work!

Back again. I've always liked Turner's work. It seems that you have incorporated more light and this is even more appealing to me than some of Turner's works. By the way, my maiden name is Turner and my father, Edgar Turner was a great & prolific artist. Not famous, except to the locals. LF
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Your father and my mother. It was so wonderful growing up in a home with the smells of oil paints and dusty pastels. My mother took over the dining room for her studio and she painted ...for years! We were both so lucky!
Nikki Dalton
Just love your works Nancy! Wonderful sensitivity, light and shimmering imagery, great tribute! FL
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
With the macro lens I can find light in the colors...and then in processing with the computer I can add even more light. Wonder if Turner would have approved...what a short cut.

Love your palette here, Nancy, great flow and you've captured Turner's turbulence. l/f
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
A fellow turbulent....I like that. I do get some of my agitation out and into my art. I need to get back to work after a wonderful vacation. Thanks for this encouragement!

Nancy, this is soooooooooooooo good that I can't think of how to express myself. So I"ll simply say I love it! LF
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
So nice to have this praise! I have so many artists I love and their influences creep into my free float abstracts more than I know. This time I could really see Turner.
