Oh, thanks Vivian for reminding me of this moment of discovery and photography. I just held my breath as I pushed click, hoping that my Fuji (trusty little camera) could catch all of this beauty. And it did!!! I needed to enjoy this again today. !!!

This is another gorgeous series! Love the richness of the surroundings and the beauty of the flower! v/f!

I'd been watching this tree and waiting patiently for it's bud to bloom. Suddenly in one day they did and by night they acquired these brown spots. It had been 93 degrees all day...a record for June.

Artist's Description

This photograph was taken as evening settled and so the dark leaves which are so stunning are without photo emendation. My Fuji camera loves low lighting and even lit up the Eifel Tower when we were in Paris. This was taken without flash.

About Nancy Kane Chapman

Nancy Kane Chapman

I must have caught the bug because I have enjoyed fifty years of drawing, painting and photography, urged on and instructed by professors, a botanist, a master of Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, water colorists and lately, mixed media devotees. After a course in cubism in 1973 I began to explore pen and ink geometric art. Each stroke was unplanned but exact, the designs becoming more elaborate and more fun to execute. First circles, then onward to straight lines, then organic and architectural constructions. Thirty years later I still dance out on the white space of a simple sheet of paper to weave new drawings.
