Thanks so very much, Ian for featuring my Figure and Costume in Awesome Asia. I love drawing with my Chinese brushes, inventing characters with ink!

Thanks, Jim for the feature in WHAT Interrobang 1. Pen and ink in a free float of calligraphy is my strong point (if I had to find one) and so I'm so grateful for this recognition. It is always an honor to be featured!

Your brush and ink painting so gorgeous, Nancy. FL

It is such joy to let the lines dance! I've invented my own techniques from what I learned long ago.

Nancy, this looks so Japanese! Brilliant work.

I studied Chinese brush painting and still practice and incorporate techniques into all of my work. Thanks, Uma.

Love the brushstrokes and movement!

Thanks, Judith. Chinese brush painting was the best experience of my art education. So different from all of the Western ideas of instruction.

Dear Nancy, I could tell by the thumbnail that this was your work and I am so delighted to see this....this is a phenomenal creation dear and I think one of my all-time favorite of yours!! She may be an imaginary creation but you have brought her to life with your fine brush and ink technique!!! Kudos my sweet friend, this is a real winner in my book!!! :-)))

I am delighted you like her. I don't really know where these images come from, but I love making marks with ink and brush. And part of my brain even deals with composition....and I notice and like minute details. I'm smiling!

I really have been on the brink of showing this little lady ...for months. So happy you like my composition, Meg. I did enjoy painting her.

About Nancy Kane Chapman

Nancy Kane Chapman

I began my love for art by watching my mother paint in oils and pastels. I must have caught the bug because I have enjoyed fifty years of drawing, painting and photography, urged on and instructed by professors, a botanist, a master of Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, water colorists and lately, mixed media devotees. After a course in cubism in 1973 I began to explore pen and ink geometric art. Each stroke was unplanned but exact, the designs becoming more elaborate and more fun to execute. First circles, then onward to straight lines, then organic and architectural constructions. Thirty years later I still dance out on the white space of a simple sheet of paper to weave new drawings. Picasa effects allow me to...
