I did this for a class.....we first wrote with an white oil based pencil and then mixed the colors one by one for the quilt. The lettering popped through. Quite a nice exercise.

Using white china marker and then water color on top creates a very interesting pattern. Glad you liked this one!

We bought artist grade watercolors and this was an exercise for those not familiar with mixing colors. The underwriting is white china marker...which I'm going to explore further!

I took a workshop in the spring. This white marks were underwriting with a white china marker. I intend to explore this further!
