The hills are alive, as the song sings, and this mountain is personified as an ancient sage, overlooking a brilliant sky. The crest of this mountain has the profile of a hawk, a falcon...something wild. I placed a small herd of animals in the meadow below, drawing them with the Paint program. This also reminds me of the volcanic action in Hawaii, Nancy. Ferocious power on display.....F/L
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Thanks, Jerry. When we visited the big island and stood above the volcano, the smallest bit of smoke was the only sign of activity. And now.....

Many thanks, Jim for featuring my mountain in WHAT Interrobang 1. This is one of my very favorite mountain paintings and one I worked with digital colors too. I'm so honored to have this extra recognition. !!!
Elizabeth Tillar
Nancy, what a stunning painting; just love the perspective and colors and the personification! You are incredibly prolific and diverse; your talent is amazing and meaningful. And I love the concept of the sage that informs this work of art! l/f
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
I am having the most splendid art years since I joined FAA. Having an audience has made all the difference and I'm full of experiments and freedom to explore. Thanks, Elizabeth for these kind thoughts. So appreciated!

Nancy, this is sunning! My favorite now. I have seen sunrises like that, just so awe inspiring that I don't want to move, just absorb. LF
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
I really saw a hawk....or some wise person with a nice beard.. in profile in the mountain. And you are right, a dawn's sky....I never thought volcano...although that's how some read it. Thanks for this nice comment!

Beautifully done! Reminds me of active volcano! v/f!!
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
That's just what my husband said...and indeed we were once on the big island of Hawaii and we did go to the edge of the ever steaming volcano.

This is just magical, Nancy! Your work always seems to capture more than just the external object, but also the feel! Love it!.....fv

Many thanks, Karen. I have a very real love for nature (as you do) and I try to give it the grandeur and gravitas it deserves....and there's always some magic too!
Meg Shearer
I love the dramatic contrasts and color! And the bold brush strokes! Very powerful and very beautifully done! l/f!
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Thanks, Meg. The mountains of my childhood were so covered with trees making this kind of view impossible. You'd have to be a bird....or...an artist...to see the sunset.
Abstract Angel Artist Stephen K
Amazing work, Nancy! my favorite so far! beautiful Earth tones... awesome texture. perfect. :)) L/F ♥
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Thanks so much, Stephen. I always love being in these imaginary realms. I did grow up in a town surrounded with low mountains we hiked every summer.
