Description
These are date palms near Palm Springs, California. I saw this wonderful lighting and stopped the car for three or four shots. Out of nowhere, the horse ambled into the scene!

I was taking a photograph course at the time and my instructor processed this one for me in his lab ...in this lovely sepia. I actually showed it in an art exhibit...but it didn't sell and I still own it.

Wonderful composition and detail in this beautiful landscape, Nancy. I love the use of a monochrome palette to bring out the textures. LF

Fantastic shot, Nancy! They are gorgeous trees and the fruit is oh so yummy! Not to mention how delicious a date shake is!!
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
I just hope they are still there in all of their beauty! You are so right about the shakes!

Fantastic! Great art and mood to this. Absolutely beautiful and instant v/f
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Thank you so much, Lenore. The date palm is truly a magnificent tree....and these tall rows felt like the Parthenon.

F/v2 Wow! I love this picture! The trees are positively grand - stately giants, and the horse looks so casual:>)
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
These are date palms and they were near Palm Springs. I hope I could go back to that very spot and they would still be there. I imagine they "harvested" these for decoration for the golf courses!!

Wonderful monotone piece, love the horse! V
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
The horse just happened to be there. We stopped the car (I saw the trees), I ran out and snapped three or four quick b/w and they were in an art show I had, printed in sepia. The original is so much better....hard to reshoot a picture which was shot in film....and printed in sepia.
