Oh this is marvelous Nancy - I'm downright envious of your talent. Gorgeous lines an brushwork. F/L T
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
This is a painting I "worked" for....and it was the best I produced after so much study of Chinese brush painting. I was and am a mere beginner at this art. My teacher painted from memory... a memory of shapes....perhaps acquired from learning the thousands of shapes of Chinese calligraphy....a whole new world of brain activity and an awesome quality to carry into the arena of making art. I looked carefully at my photograph as "climbed" my mountain. It's only now (years later) that I playing with the strokes and making my own compositions.
Angela Davies

Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
I based this painting on a photo taken while on snowboard trip with the kids to Snowbird, Utah. No wonder you're thinking about skiiing!

Thanks so much Catalina for this praise. I have enjoyed your videos especially since I have been to Majorca (when I was twenty one) and even toured Chopin's home. You have captured the beauty I remember from so long ago!
Tessa Fairey
Beautiful painting Nancy! Amazing details. It is unbelievable that you completed this in less than two hours. v/f
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Thank you, Tessa. It's an amazing technique. It must be done quickly and with confidence. There are no sketches. If you look closely at the pine trees, you'll see that they were done rapidly, almost with rhythm. I was amazed when I watch my teacher demonstrate all of his knowledge.
Evelina Popilian
Such a wonderful scene! Love it|!
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
Thank you so very much, Evelina. Of all of my art, this was the one which pleased me most because I "trained" for it and was so happy when I could do all of this in ink with few mistakes...my eye says the houses could have been nicer.....but my good trees done very rapidly made up for them.
