Wonderful painting, Nancy. Love the colors and the contrasting tones.

Thanks so much, Uma. I used the computer to "paint" some of those lovely colors.

Nancy, I love the unique colors of this painting! Such a gorgeous perspective on the endless ocean and its scintillating shades of blue, pink, white! Beautiful work! l/f

Thanks so much, Elizabeth. My technique seems to be happy doing water as well as mountains (my fav) and flowers (my always subject).

Intriguing , colours, abstraction...........beautiful.......fv.......VIVA

This is really nice Nancy. A great feeling of freedom in this work. LF!

Fantastic drama and energy and tones. Beautifully done. l/f!

I believe I'm painting multiple views again....When I look closely I see three or four shores ...!!!

I think I've painted more than one shore...perhaps three of them...if you read from the bottom up.

Artist's Description

"Looking Back to Shore" by Nancy Kane Chapman is a gouache abstract landscape painting of the ocean and shore. It's very dreamlike, and maybe even surreal. Certainly it has a strange cerulean blue which is entrancing.

About Nancy Kane Chapman

Nancy Kane Chapman

I began my love for art by watching my mother paint in oils and pastels. I must have caught the bug because I have enjoyed fifty years of drawing, painting and photography, urged on and instructed by professors, a botanist, a master of Chinese brush painting and calligraphy, water colorists and lately, mixed media devotees. After a course in cubism in 1973 I began to explore pen and ink geometric art. Each stroke was unplanned but exact, the designs becoming more elaborate and more fun to execute. First circles, then onward to straight lines, then organic and architectural constructions. Thirty years later I still dance out on the white space of a simple sheet of paper to weave new drawings. Picasa effects allow me to...
