Description
Once again our backyard and bird feeder are on the flight pattern for a new family of blue jays. I believe there are five in this new group and they take turns swooping in for meals. They are highly alert birds and I rarely fool them into posing for my cameras.

This week I followed their loud squawking just in time to see all five of them chase a very big hawk out of "their" tree. They are fearless.

I really didn't get the shot I wanted...they are so beautiful...but the good news is...they are here each year and i have plenty of new chances to succeed.

we had one today, they are rather large and beautiful!
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
One year they left quite a few beautiful feathers, which I saved and used in an art project.

Wow, beautiful capture!!!!
Nancy Kane Chapman replied:
I've actually seen all five of them flying in formation across my back yard. They looked .like the Blue Angels.... wings spread. I'll never be just there to take that photo but I have that great memory. Wow!

Now just image the whole family....here for every meal and what big squawking....and I even worry for my cat. These are don't mess with me birds.
